 About Us

"Building Champions
In and Out of the Pool"

 Mission Statement:

To have a nationally recognized, competitive swim program that provides swimmers the opportunity to achieve their highest potential as both a person and an athlete. LOSC promotes physical fitness and character building through individual growth in an inclusive, flexible team environment.

The Lake Oswego Swim Club (LOSC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the vision of our parent organization, USA Swimming, which is “to inspire and enable our members to achieve excellence in the sport of swimming and in life.”

LOSC offers quality instruction for swimmers, from novice to nationally ranked, in a positive and challenging environment. LOSC was established in 1977 and has developed into one of the premiere swim clubs in the Pacific Northwest. LOSC currently holds 2 National Age Group records, 52 Oregon Swimming records, 12 #1 National rankings, and is the home of a 2006-2007 American Swim Coaches Association Coach of the Year (
check out all our impressive achievements).  Our achievements are the result of the fun, enthusiasm and hard work of the swimmers, coaches and parents.

The benefits of swimming with LOSC make every member a winner:

  • We have a highly trained, caring coaching staff, with a combined 47+ years of experience. Their experience ranges from teaching swimming lessons to collegiate coaching, all with impressive swimming careers of their own, including Olympic Trials Finals.
  • We have a dedicated, involved parent base whose volunteer efforts help create the positive environment that exists at LOSC.
  • By participating in the swim team program, our swimmers are developing skills in time management, self-discipline, and sportsmanship, as well as forming solid friendships.
  • Our swimmers attend more than 14 different public and private schools from all over the Portland metro area, from kindergarten to high school. Instead of school rivalries, our swimmers are building friendships that encourage an inclusive mindset toward others.
  • We provide opportunities for personal and social growth through practice, swim meets and team functions.
  • While our children are becoming healthy and physically fit, they are challenging their own limits and are engaging in competition that is both fierce and friendly. They are learning that hard work pays off, and how to be gracious winners, as well as how to handle defeat - skills that will help them throughout their lives.
