| LOSC Awarded Club Excellence Program Silver Medal - Tuesday, April 07, 2009 In its first year applying for the USA Swimming Club Excellence program, the Lake Oswego Swim Club has been recognized as a Silver Medal Club. LOSC is ranked in the top 100 clubs in the nation, and one of the top two teams in the state, sharing its Silver Medal status with one other Oregon team.
“The USA Swimming Club Excellence Program” as defined by USA Swimming, “honors the commitment of the top 200 clubs in the United States. The focus of this voluntary program is to identify and reward the USA Swimming clubs that have attained a high level of athlete performance as well as organizational success, for their commitment to excellence in performance, and for their support of the sport”.
The fact that LOSC, with just 130 members and one shared pool, is ranked along side some of the largest teams in the nation, which have multiple, dedicated aquatic facilities, is quite an accomplishment, and a testament to the hard work and commitment to excellence of all the team’s swimmers, coaches and parents. At the USA Swimming convention in Atlanta in September 2008, it was voted on by the House of Delegates to restrict the use of high tech suits for age group swimmers that are 12 years old and younger. The restriction will become effective on May 15, 2009.
